TIPS FROM YODA OUR CAT: Yoda can’t meow about this enough. ***AVOID STRETCHING THE TOP RUG OUT FULLY*** In other words “Do not lay the top rug flat! i.e. Don’t try to match the four corners of the top rug, with the four corners of the bottom rug.
DON’T BE AFRAID: Model the top carpet into a 3d-shape. Ripples work better when there is base rug exposed. Aim to expose at least 20% of the bottom rug.
DIY: Do it for Yourcat.
WHY THE LARGE BASE? The base is designed to purr-form, as well as provide your kitty with a safe boundary & a stable foundation. This makes it a great launch pad for your cat.
FUR-ST CLASS KITTY INTERACTIONS
Purr-ticipation
MULIPLE PAWS-IBILITIES: Regular changing-up of the top rug, by moving the touch-points to different locations, or rolling the touch-points on themselves to form reinforced arches, helps increase your kitty’s curiosity.
PURR-OPS: Whisk out those wands, treats, and other toys. Hide them in ripples, increase interaction between you and your fur-ball.
- PLAYING: with a wand-toy, while your cat is hiding under the rug, helps build a bond with you and kitty, initiating future play-times together.
- THROWING: kitties love when you throw their toys into the holes, encouraging them to use their search and locating skills, creating activity for couch-potato behaving fur-balls.
- HIDING: treats in the folds brings out your kitty’s natural instincts, helping slower eating and weight loss management.

GET YOUR 4-LEGGED FRIEND USED TO THEIR RIPPLE RUG
Sniff-Tested & Paw-Approved
MEOW-TUAL PURR-TICIPATION: Some fur babies just can’t wait for the Ripple Rug to be removed from the bag. However, getting the sniff of approval from your furry friend may be challenging for some. Here are a few tips to help:
SOME CATS DO ANYTHING FOR TREATS.
Treats
HIDING TREATS: The ripples make great ‘crannies’, that mimic the outside world. Take advantage of these. Bury those tasty-morsels, as they may help your cat get familiar with the Ripple Rug more easily.
CREATE NEW SHAPES & ‘RIPPLES’ TO BUILD CURIOSITY.
Re-shaping
INTERACTIVE SPACE: Your inquisitive friend will be more likely to ‘hang-out’ in their new play-space, if they notice participation from their parent.
SUPERVISED PLAY: It’s always a good idea to use a new toy under supervision. This helps ensure that your cat uses the product safely.
STICK YOUR FAVORITE TOYS IN THE HOLES.
Toys
PAW PROD: Cats love sticking their paws into holes, especially when their favorite toy is lurking inside.
VIBRATING STUFF: We’ve seen great posts from pet parents who have placed vibrating toys inside, their cats go nuts to reach them!
WHY NOT PUT THE RIPPLE RUG IN YOUR CAT’S FAVORITE SPOT.
Happy-Place
SHELDON COOPER’S SOFA SPOT: Just like Sheldon on the Big Bang, there’s always the one spot, in an ever-changing world. It is a single point of consistency. So true! Maybe Sheldon was a cat in a previous life. Your cat is the same, they too have a preferred spot.
THE THERMONEUTRAL ZONE: OK, a little science. Cats are more comfortable between 86F to 97F. That’s why putting a Ripple Rug in a warm spot is always a good idea. Perhaps: close to a warm radiator or, near a window flooded with warm sunlight etc.
DEFENSIBLE CORNER: Remember, your kitty likes to be able to control their environment. Therefore, a safe corner of a room away from doors and walkways; near your desk etc. may also appeal to them.
BE PURR-SISTENT FOR KITTIES GET STUCK IN THEIR WAYS.
Patience
CREATURES OF HABIT: Fur-balls develop routines and have strong preferences. A little coaxing and patience goes a long way.
CURIOSITY…A NATURAL CAT PURR-SUIT : Cats are intelligent, curious, and yet mysterious at times. Sometimes it’s hard to understand why our furry friends do what they do. It can take a few days or even weeks for a cat to become ‘acquainted’ with new stuff. Curiosity may help win your kitty over to the land of the Ripple Rug.
A LITTLE SQUIRT GOES A LONG WAY.
Catnip
WHO DOESN’T LOVE CATNIP: Apparently approx. 50% of the cat population loves catnip. Don’t be concerned if your cat doesn’t get high or shows no interest. As a matter of fact, you can try alternatives, such as Valerian (for calming) or Silver Vine (for nutty cat-craziness).
SPRITZ AWAY: If your kitty goes crazy for catnip essential oil, then we suggest that you spritz your Ripple Rug to entice your kitty.
ME-OH TO ENJOY THE GREAT OUTDOORS.
Outside
IT’S MEOW-GICAL OUTSIDE: Which cat doesn’t love the great outdoors? Let’s face it; nothing beats the wind blowing through your fur, the sound of real birds chirping, chipmunks scratching around, or the opportunity to nibble real green stuff.
PAW-SITIVELY COSY INDOORS: If your kitty lives 99% of the time outside (and we don’t recommend it, as we have so many scary predators around e.g. cars, coyotes and bears), introducing a Ripple Rug is a good substitute when the thermometer hits those chilly temperatures and your kitty decides that being inside is probably warmer. For any outdoor kitty, a Ripple Rug near a window with a view can help.

CLEANING TIPS FOR YOUR RIPPLE RUG
The Purr-suit of Freshness
WANT YOUR RIPPLE RUG TO LAST FOR YEARS? Follow these easy cleaning tips to keep it fresh and fun for your cat:
♥
VACUUM FIRST
Squeaky Clean
Unfolding your rug for the first time: make sure to vacuum the top to remove any leftover carpet fibers.
Important: Don’t vacuum the Touch-Points—use a sticky roller to clean them instead!
♥
FIXING CREASES
Goodbye Mr. Crease
Creases from folding: fade over time.
Want to speed things up? iron out the creases (check the “How-to Remove Creases” guide on the website).
♥
REGULAR VACUUMING
Whisker-Whirling Flee-Fest
Vacuum regularly: helps remove fur, nail shards, and dander. Cats like clean spaces, and they’ll love you more for keeping their rug fur-free!
♥
DEALING WITH SNAGS
Claw-cidents Be Gone!
When your cat has a “wild” moment and snags the rug: just clip the fibers with scissors.
Don’t pull them! The rug won’t unravel if you gently clip the ends.
♥
WATER & STAIN RESISTANCE
Splash-Zone
The rug is **mold and mildew resistant** (meow, but it’s not invincible). Keep it dry, and avoid wet environments.
For spills: blot with a cloth or paper towel, then clean with soap and water.
♥
REMOVING FUR
Fur-pocalypse
Use a rubber glove to gather loose fur (it’s like magic!).
Vacuum up any remaining fur.
Clean the oils left behind from playtime with grease-cutting dish soap.
♥
WASH WHEN NEEDED
Purr-ifed
Wash your Ripple Rug: help keep it stiff and maintain those awesome ripples.
You can clean it with: a garden hose, in a bathtub, or in the washing machine on a cold cycle (no fabric softener!).
Tip: Hang it flat to dry—don’t use the dryer or heat, it could mess with the Touch-Points.
♥
WHEN TO WASH
Paw-dor Neutralized
If the ripples start losing shape, or tunnels collapse, it’s time for a wash.
Clean it like a T-shirt: help keep it crisp and fresh!
Pro Tip: Regular cleaning (especially after heavy use) will keep your Ripple Rug in tip-top shape for a long time.

How To Stiffen The Top Rug
FOLLOW THESE SIMPLE STEPS TO BRING BACK ITS ORIGINAL STIFFNESS
♥
NOTE FROM THE INVENTORS: It is worthy of note that, the Ripple Rug is made from Polyester. Did you know that it is similar to the polyester material found in clothing, such as t-shirts? In short, after use, polyester t-shirts may feel ‘worn’ or ‘broken-in’. That is also the case with the Ripple Rug. In reality, cat oils and fur left on carpet fibers may soften the carpet.
♥
VACUUM REGULARLY:
Fur-mination
VACUUM: to remove fur and pet dander.
GATHER FUR: Use a sticky roller or a rubber glove. Works especially well around the holes where cats squeeze through.
♥
WASH AWAY OILS:
Fur-ious Oils Removed
CAT OILS: These can soften the rug. Wash it with **grease-cutting soap** and water to remove these oils.
WASH EASILY: To be sure a bathtub, laundry sink, or garden hose work great.
♥
HANG TO DRY:
Wet Paw No More
LEAVE IT OUT: After washing, ‘hang the rug flat to dry’ (no dryer!). This helps bring back the original springiness, just like when you wash a T-shirt and it feels crisper.
♥
AVOID MACHINE WASH (UNLESS NECESSARY):
No One Reads Instructions
CONGRATULATIONS: If you’ve reached this far, you are one of the few people who actually read instructions. So here goes, if your cat makes a mess, you can machine wash on a ‘cold or delicate cycle’, but protect the Touch-Points to prevent them from getting pulled.
LOW TEMP TIP: Im-purr-tant, never wash at high temperatures—they could damage the rug.
♥
ADD EXTRA STIFFNESS (IF NEEDED):
Fur-tify To Be Stiffer
DRYING: Generally hang flat/straight to dry. Do not use a dryer, higher temperatures may cause the Touch-Point to release.
THE CLOTHES IRON:
- Firstly, set your clothes-iron to the polyester setting (around 300F).
- Place the hot iron on the underside of the Ripple Rug (the same side as the hook-tape).
- Do not move, nor apply pressure with the iron.
- Place the iron in one spot at a time.
- Gently glide the iron onto the desired location for 60 seconds.
- After 60 seconds gently glid the iron and move to the next area.(Remember don’t pressure down on the iron).
- No pressure is needed – simply allow the weight of the iron to work its magic by heating the area for 60 seconds (Note: applying hard pressure will flatten out the rug like cardboard, irreversible damage).
- Please ensure NOT to apply the hot iron to any of the Touch-Points, as it may cause the Touch-Points to release.
SURPRISE: You can follow this same process over and over to help re-stiffen the carpet. Just like your favorite t-shirt, it needs to be cleaned and pressed a little bit to remain in shape.
♥
EXTRA EXTRA EXTRA:
Need It Stiffer?
STEAM IT LIKE A DUMPLING: Maybe not like a dumpling, but steam has it uses, both dumplings and carpet benefit from those tiny warm particles. Always use steam from your iron sparingly, or a fine spray of water can also help. As noted above, don’t apply pressure when ironing, just glide the iron, floating it along the carpet, like a fishy swimming effortlessly in water.

HOW-TO REMOVE FOLDING CREASES
Who Got The Crease Out? Me Me Me Meow
LET’S SMOOTH THINGS OUT: Creases may form when items are folded for transport or storage. Imagine unpacking a t-shirt. Iron the t-shirt, the creases go. Same dealio with the rug.
♥
THE BOTTOM RUG (LINED WITH NON-SLIP BACKING).
• Place the rug flat, the carpet-side should face up. (Non-slip backing facing down).
• Set the iron at a low temperature. Use the Nylon setting. (Approximately 250 degrees Fahrenheit or 120 degrees Celsius).
• Use Steam sparingly.
• Glide the iron over the crease. Keep moving the iron, (meow – similar to those fishies, swimming around happily).
• Do not apply downward pressure to the iron. Let the iron slide gently across the carpet.
• Let the rug cool for a couple of minutes.
♥
THE TOP RUG (CONTAINS HOLES AND TOUCH-POINTS).
• Place the rug flat, make sure that the Touch-Points are facing up and visible.
• Next, select the Nylon setting on your iron.
• Slide the iron over the creases, without applying pressure.
• Let the iron move around freely.
• Do not iron the Touch-Points, iron around them as necessary.
• You may use a little steam if desired.
• Make sure the rug has cooled down before presenting it to your fur-baby.
♥
These easy steps will help keep your rug looking new, especially if you decide to fold your rug away regularly, that is of course – if your cat lets you.
PS – Don’t let your kitty do the ironing, they’re not very good at it and always end up playing with the cable instead 😉
